The world of football is full of people who are kind and willing to help others in their times of need. The opposite occurs with some players who have the talent but the personality does not help.

I have decided to present a slideshow of the five most arrogant players in the world. While we should concentrate on the sports side of the athlete, an athlete is great when he or she is off as well as on the field.

The five deserve to be mentioned because their off-field antics were not conducive to football/soccer. I also present this slideshow taking into account that we are not perfect, but that there is always room for improvement.

Diego Armando Maradona As The King Of The Most Arrogant

what can or cannot be said about Diego Armando Maradona? The former football player turned ex coach of the Argentine National                              Football/Soccer Team is a mess.He is one of the greatest athletes on the field and has been a protagonist in the victories of his country. The bad news is that he allowed his glory to go to his head and maybe clot the carotid arteries.

The use of drugs exacerbated his behavior to the point that he even founded a church called the Maradonian Church.

If that was not enough, he cursed his opponents when Argentina barely classified for the 2010 FIFA World Cup around the end of 2009.

The response of FIFA was to suspend him. Maradona also called Messi his "heir" one day and insulted him the next day.

Maradona went wild during his tenure as coach during the 2010 FIFA World Cup. He promised to run naked if Argentina wins the 2010 World Cup.

His downfall came when he refused to make changes in the match between Argentina and Germany. The result was humiliation for the team and his resignation.

Argentina responded by rejecting by a majority his desire to return as coach of their national team.

Nicolas Anelka Slams The French Football Federation

Nicolas Anelka was one of the players involved in the revolt by the French National Football/Soccer Team against their coach.

The incident took place during the 2010 FIFA World Cup and it was the lowest point in the history of the team.

The response of the French Football Federation was to ban Anelka for 18 games and end his international career.

The response by Anelka was to call the FFF "clowns" and to say that the "FFF is a non-issue". He also expressed his desire to remain loyal to Chelsea.

During an international event, the players should obey the coach and then discuss discrepancies afterwards.

Anelka did not have to behave like he did towards the France. France and the FFF gave him many honors for his career in football/soccer.

The people of France looked to their team with respect until the 2010 FIFA World Cup. Those days are gone for the time being.

The response was that of an arrogant ingrate who has been used to getting things his way. Could he say the same thing about Chelsea should things go sour?

Eric Cantona And His Kung Fu Kick For A Football Fan

Eric Cantona is another example of one of the most arrogant football players in the world in my opinion. He is remembered for his kung fu kick towards a fan at Crystal Palace.

Cantona received a red card after kicking Richard Shaw. Matthew Simmons of Crystal Palace made comments to Cantona, who proceeded to kick him in the chest kung fu style.

During a press conference, he responded arrogantly to a question with this answer: "When seagulls follow the trawler, it is because they think sardines will be thrown to the sea."

What can be said about Eric Cantona is that if reincarnation existed, he would have been the reincarnation of one of the most arrogant Kings of France, Louis XIV.

Zidane And His Famous Head Butt In The 2006 FIFA World Cup

Zinedine Zidane was famous for his head butt towards an Italian player during the 2006 FIFA World Cup.

Marco Materazzi was the victim of the head butt. He also stated that Zidane pulled out his shirt and told Materazzi that "he was not worthy of his (Zidane"s) shirt.

While it is understood that he has suffered prejudice throughout his life, it does not give him the right to insult and head butt an opposing player.

Cristiano Ronaldo And His "Know More Than Thou" Arrogance

Cristiano Ronaldo is known for being arrogant towards people in the field. According to Arsene Wenger (who manages Arsenal), his cockiness is getting him into trouble.

My impression of him is that on the field, he thinks he knows everything about football/soccer when he does not.

The result has been losing games and prestige. He has also shown contempt for his opponents such as the way he humiliated players from AS Roma after Manchester United's victory over the team in 2008.

David Pizarro who was one of the players of that game talked about how Ronaldo extravagantly "handled the ball" in an attempt to enjoy himself. It is called showboating and it is unacceptable in football/soccer.
